About our Program
Tradition
For more than 25 years, the Prowler Hockey Association has been building a tradition of competitive hockey, player development, teamwork, and community in Central Ohio.
The Prowlers are a USA Hockey and Mid-American District sanctioned high school club hockey organization competing in the Ohio Scholastic Hockey League (OSHL). Founded in 1998, PHA was one of the original members of what was then known as the Greater Columbus High School Club Hockey League. What began as the Pickerington/Reynoldsburg High School Age Ice Hockey Club has grown into a program serving student-athletes from communities throughout Central Ohio.
Today, PHA fields both Varsity and Junior Varsity teams and provides players with an opportunity to compete at a high level while developing as athletes, teammates, students, and leaders.
The Prowlers began play during the 1998–99 season as one of the founding clubs of the GCHSCHL. Over the years, the program expanded its reach, welcoming players from additional school districts and becoming a fixture in the Central Ohio hockey community.
In 2017, the GCHSCHL became the Ohio Scholastic Hockey League, reflecting the league's growth beyond the Columbus area. PHA remains part of that league today.
The Prowlers have built a history of success along the way, including five league championships, three Columbus Blue Jackets Cup championships, and nine Buckeye Cup appearances.
Developing Athletes for What's Next
The Prowlers have helped players continue their hockey careers at the NCAA and ACHA collegiate levels, as well as in junior hockey and professional European hockey. The program's alumni have gone on to play at schools including Aurora University, Kent State, Bowling Green, Miami University, Ohio State, the University of Cincinnati, Wright State, and others. Prowler alumni have also continued their careers in junior hockey organizations throughout the country.
That pathway is an important part of the PHA experience: giving players the opportunity to challenge themselves, develop their game, and see how far hockey can take them.
Community
PHA is about more than its Varsity and JV teams. The organization works to create a pathway for younger players to become part of the Prowler family long before they reach high school.
Throughout the year, PHA offers opportunities including summer skates, strength and conditioning, pre-tryout camps, summer leagues, Future Prowlers Week, and the Prowler Pathway Program. Younger players can also participate in Future Prowler events, where they can meet current players and coaches, attend games, get on the ice with the team, and learn more about what it means to be a Prowler.
The PHA Experience
The Varsity and JV teams typically play approximately 45 games each season, including multiple tournaments and OSHL competition. The season builds toward the Columbus Blue Jackets Cup and the Buckeye Cup State Championships, providing players with opportunities to compete against some of the best high school club hockey programs in Ohio.
Off the ice, players become part of a community that extends beyond their own team. Current players, coaches, families, alumni, and younger players all contribute to the Prowler tradition.
